Why Small Animals?

Small animals can provide a gentle and non-judgemental focus for interaction. Activities can take place alongside the animals rather than relying solely on face-to-face conversation.

There is no pressure to talk or handle the animals. Interaction takes place at the child or young person’s own pace and might include observing the animals, preparing food, helping with their care or simply spending time alongside them.

A Personalised Approach

Every child or young person is different.

Before beginning the pathway, you will be asked to complete an onboarding form so I can understand their individual needs, relevant circumstances and anything else that may help me support them appropriately.

The pathway can also be adapted for individual communication, sensory and learning needs where appropriate.

Parents and carers remain involved throughout, with brief updates following sessions and an opportunity to share relevant information between sessions.

At the end of the pathway, you will receive a Final Outcomes Summary, covering progress and strengths observed, tools and strategies identified as useful, and recommendations or next steps where appropriate.
