Calming and relaxing, giving you a safe environment of focus and thought.

General

Are you insured?

Yes, I am fully insured, public liability and professional indemnity with Towergate Insurance.

How many sessions will I need?

I suggest a minimum of 4 sessions in order to be thorough in our goal setting and allow for hypnosis therapy to be effective.

What if I can't be hypnotised?

Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process which you are fully engaging in, if you are willing to engage you will enter hypnotherapy.

Is the depth of hypnosis important to the success of the therapy?

It is about the focus of the hypnotherapy and the willingness to participate and absorption in the process that will help achieve the benefit.

Will I be unconscious?

No, you are not unconscious, you are focused and receptive.

I don't like the idea of having my mind being controlled. Will I know what's going on?

You are not controlled as it is collaborative and will completely know what is going on.

So, is it the same as being asleep then?

No, you are awake, and engaging tuned in to the process of focus and reception.

Will I be made to do silly things like those you see on stage or TV?

You cannot be made to do anything, this a therapeutic environment.

Can you guarantee me a cure?

No. Hypnotherapy is a complimentary therapy supporting you to achieve goals, acceptance and retrain thoughts. from pain for example.

Why would I need a therapist?

A therapist can help support you on your journey to identifying and achieving goals as well as teaching you structure and techniques for skills to support you outside of therapy.

Can't a good friend help me?

A good friend can be a great listener, a therapist will listen without agender, and the dynamic may allow you to be more open. A hypnotherapist practitioner requires a great deal of theoretical and practical training and will work to a code of ethics, including confidentiality.

How can I be sure that the therapist I am going to see would be the right one for me?

It is important you and your hypnotherapist can create a professional relationship based on trust and understanding. If you do not feel comfortable enough you should seek an alternative therapist, not everyone can gel. If the hypnotherapist believes you would benefit more from another type of therapy or a medical referral, they will discuss this with you offering other avenues for you to explore.

Can I get hypnotherapy on the NHS?

Unfortunately, there are few referrals for the hypnotherapy on the NHS currently so it is most likely you will have to source a private Hypnotherapist.

Can children be treated with hypnotherapy?

Children should be assessed for the level of understanding of the process and ability to engage in the process. I would always recommend a therapist who has experience of working with children and their parent/guardian collaboratively.
